Like most gardeners I have the habit of going into a store for one thing and leaving with a car-full of plants. I spied this blue hydrangea and bought it on the whim because it reminded me of my mom.
Flash back 20 years to 16-year old me in the back seat of the family car, smashed against the door on the four hour drive from the Cape back home with two giant potted blue hydrangeas and some random bedding. It was a loooong four hours. Good thing I was super skinny at that age and didn’t need much space. I wasn’t a happy camper at the time and would tease my mom about it over the years.
They grew well and my mom took extra special care of them to ensure they maintained their blue color. Not sure if the current owner of my childhood home still has them in the front yard. I would hope they do, but I doubt it. In my memory they’re still there.
Everything I know about gardening I learned from my mom. I’m sharing my knowledge with others in two classes on Skillshare. The first one shows you how to create a small-space garden while the other class shows you how to create a healing garden. If you want to learn more about gardening, be sure to sign up.
